This Key Plate shows the information necessary to make a Ford/Mercury 8 wafer key for the Mercury Sable GS & LS. We see that the key is a PATS III transponder. This information applies to most current Mercury models. The 2004 model year Sable and Mountaineer vehicles use the new "CAN" protocol for key programming. Key making is recommended by "read door cylinder for cuts 1-6, then progressing the key in the ignition to find cuts 7-8."
